Rewatched this after watching the new season of Ash vs Evil Dead left me wanting some more Bruce Campbell. Last time watching this was almost ten years ago so it was time for a rewatch.

The trailers looked so bad to me, but then I watched some reviews and got interested seeing this. And it was really enjoyable action adventure with good performances. The film's run time is long but didn't really feel that. I liked the range of the easter eggs/character cameos in it, and there's new ones to spot for multiple viewings. Didn't except things from Boorman's Excalibur or The Shining( which was really nicely done scene) I was excepting most of them to be aimed towards younger audience members. The CGI was really good too and so was the sound design/mixing(especially in the race scene you can hear the different engines and crashes/explosions). Also there's nice sets that they filmed the real world parts. Even the humor worked mostly for me. The story and characters(outside the OASIS) aren't anything new or original but the execution/performances are done well and the film was just fun to watch that you can forgive those minor problems.

Nice slow burn horror/thriller with really nice score. The acting was good as was the mood of the film. Oz Perkins directed this and I really didn't like his Netflix film I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House that was released before this even thought this is his first film. That film was almost torturously boring watching experience. This wasn't that scary but the unsettling mood was great with the score adding to it nicely.
